Venison BBQ Burger by Nikki Boxler

Venison BBQ Burger by Nikki Boxler

By Traeger Kitchen

Don’t let the wild game aspect intimated you. These venison burgers are super simple to make, but pack a punch of complex flavor.

Units of Measurement:
main
5 Slices bacon
1 Pound ground venison
1/2 Cup Traeger 'Que BBQ Sauce
1/2 Cup shredded cheddar cheese

Steps

  • 1

When ready to cook, start your Traeger according to grill instructions. Set temperature to 350 degrees F and allow to pre-heat, lid closed, for 10 -15 minutes.

  • 2

Place bacon slices directly on the grill grate and cook 15 minutes until fat is rendered and bacon is crispy. Remove from grill and let cool. When bacon is cool, break it into pieces.

  • 3

Combine the venison, barbecue sauce, bacon and cheese into a large bowl. Then mix carefully so that the ingredients are spread evenly.

  • 4

Once mixed, press the ground venison into burger patties.

  • 5

Place patties directly on the grill grate and cook until the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees F, flipping halfway through.

  • 6

Once the burgers are done, pair it with your favorite bun and top with your choice of toppings. I personally don’t add a bun or condiments as the burger is so good, you don’t need them. Enjoy!
