Brown Sugar and Bacon Wrapped Lil Smokies

Brown Sugar and Bacon Wrapped Lil Smokies

By Traeger Kitchen

A few simple ingredients come together for a bite full of sweet, smoky, and salty flavor. Li'l smokies are smoked cocktail franks available at the supermarket that go by a few different spellings. Don't be tempted to use thick-cut bacon; thin cut wraps well and cooks up crispy.

Steps

  • 1

Heat the Traeger with the lid closed to 350°F; this will take about 15 minutes.

    350 ˚F / 177 ˚C

  • 2

Cut the bacon in half crosswise. Wrap each Li’l Smokie with half of a piece of bacon and secure with a toothpick or small skewer. (If using 4-inch skewers, you can fit two smokies on each.) Place on a baking rack with space between the pieces.

  • 3

Place the rack directly on the grill grate, close the lid, and cook until the bacon has just started to brown, about 30 minutes.

  • 4

Remove the rack from the grate. Using a pastry brush, brush both sides with Traeger Sweet & Heat BBQ Sauce. (Alternatively brush with Traeger Hot Sauce and sprinkle with a little brown sugar.)

  • 5

Return the rack to the grill, close the lid, and cook for 5 minutes. Flip the pieces over, then continue to cook until the glaze has set and the bacon is cooked to desired doneness, another 5 to 10 minutes.

Remove the baking sheet from the grill and serve warm. Enjoy!
