The #1 Tip for Grilling the Perfect Pork Loin
Pork Loin is a Blank Canvas.
BBQ competitor, owner of Whiskey Bent BBQ, and our resident BBQ expert, Chad Ward, shared his tips and tricks for grilling delicious and tender pork loin. Chad is self-taught and a 7 time BBQ grand champion, so his methods are tried and true.
Preparation
Pork Loin is a blank canvas that perfectly absorbs seasonings and sauces, it truly lets the flavor you give it shine. It’s the best meat to try out new rubs, BBQ sauces, and your own custom blends of spices. So go hog wild with the seasonings and see what flavoring you and your family like best.
Tip: Rub the seasoning into the meat on both sides and let it penetrate the meat for about 5 to 10 minutes before cooking.
Try a few of the Traeger Rubs & Shakes or BBQ Sauces. We’ve got a wide variety to choose from and they’re also available at your local Traeger dealer. Chad's Traeger favorite is the Big Game Rub.
Grilling Pork Loin
The key to the perfect pork loin is to keep an eye on the internal temperature of the meat. Smoke pork for 30 minutes to an hour, then turn the Traeger up to 275 degrees F and grill it until you hit the proper meat temperature. You do not want to get past 145 degrees internal temp. When it’s finished cooking, remove it from the grill and let it rest for 20 minutes. The juices will reabsorb into the meat and make your pork loin tender.
Tip: If your Traeger doesn’t have meat probes, use a meat thermometer to gauge the internal temperature. We have a variety of thermometers, even a remote probe thermometer so you can multi-task as you grill.
Pork loin looks great presented whole or sliced on a platter. Serve it for dinner guests, then slice it thin and devour dang good sandwiches all week long.
